SKATEBOARDING HISTORIAN

Skateboarding as we know it today has only been around about five short decades. So much has happened in so little time, with the densest and dearest part of this history taking place somewhere at the mid-point in the 1970s and 1980s. It’s funny how something so relatively new can have such a voluminous history and funny too how quickly this history is being lost, forgotten or misunderstood.

My current work is centered on three books that relate part of this important heritage, leaning towards the little known and the untold. In addition to the trilogy, I have had the fortune to act as a consultant for several books and magazine articles on the subject of skating. For this site, I am planning on writing some exclusive articles that cover the last five decades of skate history, but this will have wait until the first two books are completed. The Skate Trilogy

Book 1

A Secret History of the Ollie
Covering the first 30 years of this all-important skateboard trick, from 1977 to the present, this illustrated retrospective by Craig B. Snyder contains everything you need to know and didn’t know about the Ollie.
